Our Toddler Classroom

"Sometimes very small children in a proper environment develop a skill and exactness in their work that can only surprise us." -Maria Montessori

Of fundamental importance is the gradual separation of each child from his primary caretaker. This fragile stage begins by creating a very gentle and slow parting of each adult-child couple. By a process of separation scheduling, the child becomes comfortable in their new environment as they begin to trust their teacher "guides" and the children around them.

By the use of positive guidance, modeling and redirection we encourage and gain appropriate behavior. By speaking simply and positively with the children we are able to steer them gently in the direction of cooperation.
